New Project at Sheffield Children’s Hospital
This month, RLX Construction started a significant new project with one of our long-standing and valued clients, Sheffield Children’s Hospital. The project involves the conversion of a ground-floor office area into six new clinical rooms, which will provide essential healthcare facilities to support the hospital’s commitment to patient care. Additionally, the scope of works includes the creation of associated support spaces.
The new works also include the installation of a platform lift between Level A and Level B to improve accessibility and ease of movement across floors, ensuring that both staff and patients can navigate the hospital more easily. Accessibility is at the forefront of this project.
In line with this, we will be providing space to move the existing ground-floor office support, which includes Staff and Seminar rooms, to Level B. This includes a reconfiguration of existing WC facilities to ensure the introduction of fully accessible, compliant toilets for all users.
Charity Curling Event for Weston Park Cancer Charity
RLX Construction was glad to support and participate in The Charity Construction Championship Curling Event hosted by Services Design Associates Ltd and HLM Architects at Ice Sheffield. This event wasn’t just a fun and competitive gathering but also an opportunity to raise much-needed funds for Weston Park Cancer Charity, an incredible charity organisation.
Weston Park Cancer Charity supports cancer patients across the Sheffield region, offering a range of vital services, including funding for cancer research, providing life-saving treatments, and delivering compassionate care for those battling cancer. The funds raised during this event will go toward furthering the charity’s mission of improving patient outcomes, enhancing research, and providing support to families affected by cancer.
It was fantastic to connect with both familiar faces and new contacts within the construction and architecture industries, all while raising awareness and supporting a cause that is truly making a difference.

School Extension in Gainsborough – Nearly Complete!
In addition to our ongoing work across other sectors, we are nearing completion on a new build school extension project in Gainsborough, where we’ve been hard at work for the past 27 weeks. This extension will provide the school with much-needed new teaching spaces to help meet the growing needs of students. The new spaces will include classrooms designed to enhance learning experiences and accommodate various teaching methods and group sizes.
In addition to the classrooms, the project includes the installation of new toilet facilities and office spaces, improving both student and staff environments. The aim is to provide a more modern, comfortable, and functional space that supports the school’s mission to provide high-quality education and an engaging learning environment for all its students.
As we approach the final stages of this project, we are excited to see how these new additions will contribute to the overall development of the school and its future success.
