June has been another productive month for RLX Construction, marked by the successful completion of key projects, the delivery of specialist facilities, and the opportunity to support an important local charity.

This month we attended the 20th Sheffield Hospitals Charity Golf Day, held at Hallamshire Golf Club.

The annual event brought together businesses, supporters and members of the local community to raise vital funds for neurology projects across Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The day provided an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow organisations while contributing towards projects that will improve care, treatment and outcomes for patients across the region.

Supporting local charities and giving back to the communities in which we work remains an important part of RLX Construction’s values. Events such as this highlight the positive impact that businesses can make when working together in support of worthwhile causes.

A huge thank you to Sheffield Hospitals Charity for organising another fantastic event and to everyone who participated, volunteered and helped make the day such a success.

Duke Medical Centre Refurbishment Successfully Completed

We’re delighted to announce the successful completion of the phased refurbishment works at Duke Medical Centre, a project delivered within a fully operational healthcare environment.

The scheme involved the complete reconfiguration and modernisation of the existing staff welfare facilities, consulting rooms and accessible toilet accommodation. The aim was to create a more efficient and functional working environment for healthcare professionals while enhancing accessibility and improving the experience for patients visiting the medical centre.

One of the most technically challenging aspects of the project was the installation of a new disabled access lift. Introducing a lift into an existing building required extensive structural investigations, detailed surveys and careful design coordination to ensure the new installation could be seamlessly integrated into the existing structure. Throughout the design and construction process, our team worked closely with the client, consultants and specialist subcontractors to overcome the complexities presented by the building’s existing layout.

Delivering construction works within a live healthcare setting demanded meticulous planning, phased programming and close communication with the medical centre to minimise disruption to staff and patients. Maintaining safe access and ensuring essential healthcare services could continue uninterrupted remained a priority throughout every stage of the project.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the client, design team and everyone involved for their collaborative approach and continued support. Projects of this nature demonstrate the value of strong partnerships, enabling complex refurbishment works to be delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

New Facilities Delivered for Castings Technology

June also saw the successful handover of our the first phase of the project for Castings Technology, marking another important milestone for both the client and the wider project team.

The development provides modern, purpose-built facilities that will support innovation, research and technological advancement within the UK’s casting and advanced manufacturing sector. These new spaces will play an important role in helping the organisation continue its work in developing manufacturing processes, supporting industry collaboration and driving future growth across the sector.

From the early stages of the project through to completion, close collaboration between all project partners has been fundamental to its success. We’re proud to have played our part in delivering a facility that will provide long-term value for the organisation and the industries it supports.

Congratulations to everyone involved in achieving this successful handover on the first phase of the project. We’d particularly like to thank Race Cottam Architects, Austin Fletcher Ltd, CASTREE, our supply chain partners and the wider project team for their professionalism, expertise and collaborative approach throughout the project.

Looking Ahead

As we move into the summer months, our teams are preparing for a busy period of the year, with a number of projects taking place across the education sector during the school holidays.

Alongside our education projects, we continue to progress a diverse portfolio of healthcare, commercial and industrial schemes, maintaining our commitment to delivering high-quality construction projects safely, collaboratively and to the highest standards.

We’d like to thank our clients, consultants, supply chain partners and our dedicated team for their continued trust and support. We look forward to sharing further project milestones and celebrating more successful completions over the coming months.
