Project Overview
- Client: National Church of England Academy
- Location: Nottingham
- Duration: 45 Weeks
- Brief: New Build – Sixth Form Academy
RLX Construction successfully delivered a complete new build of a modern Sixth Form Centre at the National Church of England Academy. The 45-week programme involved transforming a challenging site into a fully functional and visually pleasing educational facility.
Scope of Works:
- Groundworks & Foundations: The project began with extensive excavation works to reshape the existing land, making way for the new structure. This included the installation of all necessary underground drainage and service connections before pouring the new concrete slab.
- Superstructure Construction: A robust steel frame was erected to form the skeleton of the new building. External brickwork was constructed to form the perimeter walls, complemented by the installation of a high-performance modern roofing system to achieve a fully watertight structure.
- Envelope & External Finishes: High-quality aluminium windows and fire escape doors were fitted throughout. The external facade was finished with a combination of coloured render and contemporary cladding to enhance both performance and aesthetics.
- Internal Works: Internal partitions were installed to define learning and administrative spaces. First and second fix M&E services were completed throughout the building, including lighting, power, heating, and ventilation systems. Certified fire doors were fitted to meet safety compliance, along with high-specification wall and floor finishes to complete the interiors.
Outcome:
The new Sixth Form Centre now provides students and staff with a modern, energy-efficient, and inspiring environment that supports education and personal development.
