Project Overview
- Client: Leeds UTC College
- Location: Leeds
- Department: UTC College
- Duration: 15 Weeks
- Brief: Internal extension
Expanding Learning Spaces with an internal extension at Leeds College, we worked closely with our client and the college to enhance its learning environment. The main focus of this project was the construction of a new internal structural steel extension, designed to create additional, versatile teaching spaces that can be adapted to a variety of educational needs. This also involved the installation of modern glazed partitions and glazed doors, which will allow more natural light into these new spaces. In addition to this extension, the project included the refurbishment of existing classrooms around the college.
The initial phase of the project was the installation of the steel work, new partitions, glazing, plastering and decorating to the external façade of the extension, all successfully completed over the summer holidays. This strategic timing minimised disruption to the school community, as staff and students returned to a safe, accessible campus for the start of the new term. This forward planning ensured we met both project timelines and the functional needs of the college.
The second phase of the project saw us complete the internal works within the newly formed space. We coordinated closely with the college to minimise any impact on day-to-day operations, ensuring that teaching continued with minimal disruption, while the school eagerly anticipated the completion of the enhanced learning spaces.
