DESIGN & BUILD

10 CYCLE SHELTERS

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Design, build and construct ten individual cycle shelters across the Sheffield Teaching Hospital sites (including Weston Park Hospital, the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and the Northern General Hospital) – adding 350+ spaces as part of their cycle to work scheme .

Working alongside the trust, structural engineers and fabricators each area was bespoke to suit the space available.

All locations were carefully segregated from the public to enable works to be carried out safely.

We had to excavate to create space for a newly designed reinforced concrete pad for the new shelters to be sited. Timber cladding was installed to all outside walls. Access control on entry and automatic lighting fitted throughout all the shelters.

Two tier storage systems were installed across several of the shelters as well as fixed semi vertical storage racks.

Each shelter is fitted with its own pump station along with a number of maintenance tools for cyclist to use.
